World citizen

October 4, 2009

This 20th of August, borders and nationalities were pure fiction. On the island of Ameland in the north of the Netherlands, 30 brothers and sisters shared their enthusiasms, energy and love united by one simple dream: “make a better world”
While prejudices were left in the harbour of Holwerd, we embarked on a journey into the unexplored on Thursday, the 20th. During three days we explored our senses and feelings through workshops, games, learning experiences and fun activities with the objectives of discovering ourselves and the others. Words can not describe what sensations occurred in those days, only we can express the happiness we all felt when we came back to the old continent as earthling, brothers of humanity. On the way back in Sunday, there were no Italian, no Spanish, no French, no American, no German, no Dutch, no British, no Canadian, no Australian but 30 young and amazing world citizens.

A deep spirit of equality and brotherhood were flowing all around Ameland, all around the feelings of these 30 persons, who came with an idea of what was expecting them and came back still thinking about what had unconsciously happened to their consciousness, to their perceptions, to their lives, after those 3 intense days of life learning and sharing.

For some of them Erasmus Last Dance had been a new occasion for enjoying the International Spirit, for some others it has the beginning of a new adventure, for everybody it has been an important moment in which reflecting over their identity, their present and their future. For us, Locomotive, this have been 3 days of real inspiration with all these beautiful people which made these 3 days becoming unforgettable for each one of us.
